Again without Kevin Anderson of the Monte Carlo Masters
World number 7 and Grand Slam twice finalist Kevin Anderson will delay his participation in the tennis season after declining the participation of the upcoming Masters in Monte Carlo starting April 14th.
Anderson is expected to join Estoril in the ATP 250 series at the end of the month when he was eliminated last year by Stefanos Tsitsipas and in 2017 in the semi-finals.
The reason for Anderson’s prolonged rest is probably his physical condition because he was tortured by an elbow injury and has already missed the events in New York, Acapulco and Indian Wells. In Miami he performed excellently in view of the long pause and eliminated Jaume Monar, Joao Sousa and Jordan Thompson before being defeated by Roger Federer in the quarterfinals.
Anderson is not new to missing the slowest series of the Monte Carlo Clay Masters series because between 2011 and 2014 he scored only one win and will not play for the fifth time in a row.
