Joventut, Andorra and Unicaja, confirmed in Eurocup
Insurance divine Joventut, Unicaja Malaga MoraBanc Andorra and will be the three representatives of the ACB in 2019-20 Eurocup, pending ratification of the Euroleague in July, organizers announced Tuesday through a statement.
After the invitation was unsuccessful requested by the Herbalife Gran Canaria, the 2019-2020 edition will feature a total of 25 clubs from 13 countries, although the final list will stay at 24 to be selected one of these as a wildcard for the Euroleague.
After three editions without Greek representation in the tournament, the Promitheas Patras, current runner-up of the Hellenic League, will attend on behalf of their country, debuting in the competition.
There will also be Israeli teams after a year of absence with the participation of Maccabi Rishon Le’ion, current runner-up of his League.
This will feature four former champions Eurocup Euroleague: Partizan NIS Belgrade (1992), Limoges CSP (1993), Divine Insurance Joventut (1994) and Segafredo Virtus Bologna (1998 and 2001).
And seven champions Eurocup: Rytas Vilnius (2005, 2009), Divina Insurance Joventut (2008), Unics Kazan (2011), Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar (2013), Galatasaray Doga Sigorta Istanbul (2016), Unicaja Malaga (2017) Darussafaka Tekfen Istanbul (2018), adds the press release.
