The novel Falcao, now Monaco wants it to stay
Although it seems that the Colombian striker has already reached an economic agreement with the Turkish Galatasaray, he has a contract with the Principality club until June 2020.
Oleg Petrov, vice president of Monaco, reaffirmed on Wednesday, during the presentation of the new faces of his club, his desire that the Colombian attacker Radamel Falcao García continue in the entity, at a time when the attacker seems to have everything agreed with the Turkish Galatasaray.
“We want Falcao to stay. He is a quality player. He does a very good job here. He and the club have created a story together. He has scored many goals here and is a very good professional,” said the principal of the Principality team .
Falcao has a contract with Monaco until June 2020. Petrov was asked about whether he believes that the Colombian attacker, in the vicinity of the end of his contract, could force an exit like 2014 to join Manchester United. “It’s ambitious, I understand. He wants to play the Champions League. We understand his goals. But he has a contract and you have to respect the contracts. I don’t think there could be problems,” he said.
Petrov had on Wednesday a new meeting with the player, currently injured in an ankle and that would be low on Sunday against Nimes on the third day of the French Ligue 1, in which Monaco lost its first two games.
According to different internal sources of the club, if Falcao, which has an offer from Galatasaray for a contract until 2022, responds this campaign could receive before December an offer to renew its current contract with Monaco.
For its part, the signing of the Principality team in this preseason, Wissam Ben Yedder, said Wednesday in his presentation that he wants to be able to match Falcao, “an extraordinary player.”
“If he stays, we will try our best to score, one or the other, to make this club grow and be at the top of the standings,” said Ben Yedder, hired for 40 million euros and coming from Seville.
In Turkey, specialized sports media say that the Colombian will be presented on Friday as a new Galatasaray player, although a negotiation between clubs should be closed before, as Monaco can assert the contract it has with Falcao until the end of next season or demand an indemnification.
